On the evening of January 19, 2023, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Round Rock Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Red Hills Villas apartment complex, located at 1401 South AW Grimes Boulevard in Round Rock, Texas. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Marcos Esparza suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, Esparza was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators interviewed another male individual present at the scene, who cooperated fully with the investigation. Authorities described the incident as isolated, involving only the two men, and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat to community safety.
Despite the cooperation of the individual at the scene, no arrests have been made in connection with Esparza's death. The Round Rock Police Department continues to collaborate with the Williamson County District Attorney's Office in an ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting.
