John C. McBride Jr., a 36-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was a constable in Round Rock, Texas. On December 24, 1908, he was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man accused of stealing provisions from a local farm. The farmer had driven his wagon to McBride's office and informed him of the theft. McBride pursued the suspect, leading to a confrontation in which he was fatally shot.
