On February 20, 2023, Samuel Banks, aged 47, was fatally shot at approximately 6:20 p.m. while visiting his wife at her workplace, a restaurant located in the 14000 block of Homestead Road in northeast Harris County, Texas. An argument ensued between Banks and two men, during which one of the men drew a handgun and shot Banks. The assailants fled the scene in separate vehicles.
Emergency services transported Banks to Kingwood Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation, identifying the shooter as 19-year-old Justin Ware. Ware was arrested on February 27, 2023, and charged with murder.
The second individual involved in the incident was described as a short, heavy-set Black man. As of the latest available information, authorities have not released further details regarding his identity or whether he has been apprehended.
