Calogero Louis Dueñes, a 24-year-old man of Hispanic ethnicity, was fatally shot on December 31, 2021, in Humble, Texas. He was carrying his 6-year-old daughter's birthday cake outside a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant when he was killed. His wife, Amber Uresti, and their two daughters were already inside the venue when the incident occurred.
Antoine Daniel Badon, 27, of Humble, Texas, was arrested and charged with Dueñes' murder.
Surveillance footage showed Badon driving the wrong way down a row of parking spaces and nearly hitting Dueñes with his car. An argument ensued, and Badon pulled out a gun and shot Dueñes before fleeing the scene. Badon was later arrested on January 5, 2022, for the murder as well as other charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault of a family/household member.
The investigation revealed that Badon used the same gun in a separate incident at a convenience store on January 2, 2022, where he shot two other individuals. Badon was taken into custody and held in the Harris County Jail with a combined bond totaling $650,000. The evidence linked the weapon used in the convenience store shooting to the murder of Dueñes.
Dueñes' obituary described him as a loving father, son, and cousin who enjoyed gaming and spending time with his family. He was remembered for his love of laughter, sense of adventure, and devotion to his family.
The case against Badon is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence and testimonies to ensure justice for Dueñes and his family.
