On April 21, 2023, 30-year-old maintenance worker Carlos Aybar was fatally shot at The Marq on West 7th apartments in Fort Worth, Texas. The incident began when resident Devin Smith confronted a female employee in the apartment office, reportedly over an animal control violation. Feeling threatened, the employee called Aybar for assistance. When Aybar arrived and attempted to defuse the situation by asking Smith to leave, Smith escalated the confrontation by drawing a firearm and shooting Aybar ...
