On the evening of November 24, 2024, 26-year-old Oscar Alberto Umanzor Lopez was fatally shot in the driveway of his residence in the 1200 block of East Davis Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas. Responding to a shooting call around 10:15 p.m., police officers found Lopez with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Lopez had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation with his next-door neighbor, 26-year-old Caspian Swinney. During the confrontation, Swinney allegedly fired a handgun, striking Lopez multiple times. Swinney was detained at the scene; however, he experienced a medical emergency during the investigation and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Following his release from the hospital, Swinney was arrested and charged with murder. He remains in custody at the Tarrant County Jail, with bond set at $250,000.
Oscar Lopez is survived by his parents, Sergio Oscar Lopez De Leon and Maria Lorenza Umanzor Maldonado; his wife, Amanda Fernicola Lopez; his children, Aiden Christopher Allen, Oscar Logan López, and Gabriel Mateo Lopez; his brothers, Omar Melvin Lopez and Jeyson Ariel Lopez; and his sister, Wendy Carolina Lopez. Funeral services were held on December 5 and 6, 2024, at Carrillo Funeral Home in South Fort Worth.
