On May 19, 2023, 19-year-old Adan Tiscareño of El Paso, Texas, was fatally shot following a confrontation in a desert area near Horizon Boulevard and Mark Twain Avenue. The incident began earlier that evening when Tiscareño allegedly stole items from a 7-Eleven store on Horizon Boulevard, wearing a face covering and fleeing in a red Chevrolet Sonic.
