On June 11, 2023, 29-year-old Jasmine McHenry was fatally shot in her Houston apartment. The alleged perpetrator is her common-law husband, 32-year-old Thomas Wilson Alexander. The tragic incident occurred in the presence of McHenry's 9-year-old daughter, Azariah, who reportedly witnessed the shooting.
According to reports, prior to the shooting, McHenry instructed her daughter to call her grandmother, expressing fear as Alexander had allegedly brandished a firearm.
Azariah complied, and her grandmother, Cynthia Demerson, rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, by the time Demerson arrived, McHenry had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Authorities arrested Alexander and charged him with murder. He was booked into the Harris County Jail with bond set at $1 million. Court records indicate that Alexander and McHenry had been together for at least three years and shared a 3-year-old son. Family members described McHenry as a devoted mother and kind-hearted individual, expressing shock and confusion over the incident.
