On June 30, 2023, at approximately 11:18 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 8800 block of Redfield Lane in North Austin. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Larry Jennings lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that Jennings had been involved in a confrontation with several men in the parking lot of the complex. During this altercation, a gunshot was heard, leading to Jennings' fatal injuries. Initial investigations by the Austin Police Department identified a person of interest in the case, though specific details were not immediately disclosed.
Following a four-month investigation, the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force apprehended 46-year-old Brandon Demont Miller, also known as "Coo Coo," in connection with Jennings' death. Miller was located at a residence in the 3600 block of Menchaca Road in South Austin and was arrested without incident. He was subsequently booked into the Travis County Jail on murder charges and is awaiting judicial proceedings.
