According to the Austin Police Department (APD), White was inside the gas station as a customer when an unidentified suspect entered and shot him. Despite immediate medical attention, White succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Witnesses reported that multiple individuals were involved in a "gun battle" during the incident. However, authorities believe that White was specifically targeted and that this was not a random act of violence. The suspect is described as a tall Black male with a heavy build. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the APD released surveillance footage and images of the suspect, appealing to the public for assistance in identifying and locating him. They urged anyone with information to contact the department's tip line or Crime Stoppers anonymously, offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
This incident was one of several violent events in Austin that weekend, contributing to a total of six deaths across five separate incidents. The surge in violence prompted increased concern within the community and discussions about public safety measures.
A memorial page has been established in honor of Tijarious White, allowing friends and family to share memories and express condolences.
The investigation into White's death remains active, with law enforcement continuing to seek leads to apprehend the individual responsible for this tragic loss. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid in bringing justice for Tijarious White.
