Michael Richardson, a 38-year-old male, was tragically killed on July 9, 2022, in Austin, Texas. The incident occurred at a homeless encampment located at 9909 North Lamar Boulevard, behind the InTown Suites near the Masterson Pass intersection. According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to a call around 7:20 a.m. for a shooting. When they arrived, they found Richardson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts by EMS medics to perform CPR, Richardson was declared dead at the scene.

On July 28, 2022, 21-year-old Cesar Lopez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Richardson's death. Lopez was apprehended by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force less than a mile from the scene of the shooting. The investigation indicated that Lopez was involved in the argument that led to the shooting.
