On May 22, 2024, at approximately 9:59 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Villas de la Plaza apartment complex, located at 9601 Middle Fiskville Road in northeast Austin. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Wilfredo Benitez-Jimenez lying on the living room floor of his apartment with apparent gunshot wounds.
