Andrew Clayton Johnson, an 18-year-old male from Austin, Texas, tragically died on October 22, 2022. Johnson was found shot inside his vehicle after it crashed into a pole near a McDonald's restaurant located off North Mopac Expressway. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound to the head.
The incident was initially investigated as a crash, but it was later determined to be a homicide.
According to court documents, the death was believed to be related to a robbery over marijuana. The Austin Police Department responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Johnson's death.
Several arrests have been made in connection with Johnson's murder. On January 3, 2023, APD arrested 18-year-old Zavien Nathaniel Castilleja and a 17-year-old juvenile on charges of capital murder and second-degree felony criminal conspiracy, respectively. The juvenile was later released on house arrest. On January 23, 2023, another juvenile was arrested and charged with capital murder. On February 16, 2023, 18-year-old Autumn Nicole Scarver was arrested and charged with capital murder. Finally, on February 21, 2023, 18-year-old Angelina Alexis Valdez was arrested and charged with capital murder.
