On May 14, 2017, 18-year-old Jamari Richmond was shot and killed while playing basketball in Chicago. The tragic incident occurred in the 7300 block of South Union Avenue. According to police, the shooter fired from a vehicle driving north. Jamari was struck in the head and rushed to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead shortly after at 5:06 p.m. Richmond lived nearby, making his death even more personal and devastating for the community.
