According to the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, the perpetrator was identified as Michael Green, 49, the son of Cynthia and Louis.
Authorities reported that Michael Green opened fire on his family members, fatally wounding his mother, Cynthia. Louis sustained injuries but was treated and released from the hospital, while Brice remained hospitalized in stable condition. After the shooting, Michael retreated to a recreational vehicle on the property. Cynthia Green was born on August 25, 1956, in San Angelo, Texas, to James Preston Smith and Joyce Marie Smith. She married Louis Green on April 20, 1973, in Casa Grande, Arizona, and the couple shared over 50 years together. Cynthia retired from Frito Lay after more than 25 years of service and was known for her dedication to her family. She is survived by her husband, son Stephen Green and his wife Brenda, grandson Brice Green, five step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, and her sister Karen Peck.
Funeral services for Cynthia were held on October 6, 2023, at Rock City Church in Lubbock, Texas, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family received friends during a visitation on October 5, 2023, at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth.
