Bianca Elizabeth Ramirez, 34, was a mother of two who had recently moved to Burleson, Texas, with her family in August 2026. She and her husband, Axel Ramirez, had since separated, and he had moved to West Texas. Together, they had two children, a daughter aged 14 and a son aged 9. The children were the center of Bianca's world.
The morning of Thursday, October 29, 2026, began like any other for Bianca. She drove her 9-year-old son to school and returned to her apartment complex in the 700 block of West Hidden Creek Parkway. In the parking lot, she was confronted by her estranged husband. A witness to the encounter saw the man was armed and called 911 around 7:45 a.m. Bianca also managed to place an open 911 call from inside the car, though she was unable to speak to the dispatcher. Witnesses reported that her husband forced her into his vehicle at gunpoint and fled.
Burleson police responded to what was initially reported as an aggravated kidnapping.
When officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, the driver refused to comply, initiating a police pursuit. The chase began southbound on Wilshire Boulevard, also known as Texas 174, before moving toward Chisholm Trail Parkway and U.S. Highway 377. For over 34 minutes, the chase wound through Johnson and Parker counties, covering 25 miles at speeds that sometimes exceeded 100 miles per hour.
Officers deployed spike strips along U.S. 377, successfully puncturing both passenger-side tires of the fleeing vehicle. Despite the damage, the driver continued on. The pursuit finally came to an end near Bourland Field Airport in the town of Cresson. The vehicle drove through an area near the airport hangars and along a gravel road before stopping in an undeveloped cul-de-sac at approximately 17790 U.S. Highway 377.
When officers approached the stopped vehicle, they could not see inside due to its heavily tinted windows. They broke a rear window to gain access and made a devastating discovery. Both Bianca Elizabeth Ramirez and her estranged husband were inside, deceased from gunshot wounds. Investigators recovered two firearms from the vehicle but believe only one was used. No law enforcement officers fired their weapons during the entire incident. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed Bianca’s death occurred at 8:53 a.m.
The investigation was handled by the Burleson Police Department with assistance from the Texas Rangers. Preliminary findings pointed to a murder-suicide. At a press conference, Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell expressed his condolences. "Our deepest condolences to the families affected by today's tragedy, especially two school-age children who have both lost their parents," he said. "It's a heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this devastating loss." Relatives took custody of the two children following the tragedy.
Chief Cordell noted that the incident occurred during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. He confirmed that Burleson police had no record of prior domestic violence calls involving the couple. Investigators also checked with police in Mansfield, where the family had previously lived, and found no reported incidents there either. However, the chief emphasized that the absence of a police record does not mean violence wasn't happening. "As we know, domestic violence is underreported," Cordell stated. "That doesn't mean that there wasn't violence. It was just unreported." The case is considered solved, with the primary suspect deceased.
