On October 28, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in San Antonio, Texas, resulting in the deaths of 40-year-old Marvin Medrano and 30-year-old Jennifer Colin. The event occurred during a house party in the 300 block of Roslyn Avenue, where an argument escalated into a deadly shooting.
The confrontation reportedly began between a party attendee and a neighbor, who left the scene but later returned with family members.
Among them was 20-year-old Raul Trevino III, who allegedly initiated an argument in the front yard of the gathering. During the altercation, Trevino is accused of drawing a firearm and shooting Medrano, Colin, and Medrano's 13-year-old daughter. In response, Medrano, who was also armed, fired back, injuring Trevino and one of his relatives.
Both Medrano and Colin sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head and were pronounced dead at the scene. The 13-year-old girl, along with Trevino and his relative, were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have arrested Raul Trevino III, charging him with capital murder of multiple persons and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently held in Bexar County Jail with a bond set at $825,000.
Family members have indicated that the dispute may have stemmed from an ongoing feud between two teenage girls, which tragically escalated into the deadly confrontation. Medrano was remembered as a devoted father and a longtime manager at H-E-B, while Colin was described as a loving aunt who was always there for her family.
In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral expenses for both victims.
