On January 19, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Garland Police Department officers responded to a reported disturbance involving a weapon at an apartment located in the 3500 block of Easton Meadows Drive in Garland, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals inside the apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified by the Medical Examiner as 20-year-old Treton Butler.
