On April 7, 2024, 29-year-old Oran O'Lee Trahan of Beaumont, Texas, was fatally shot under tragic circumstances. At approximately 1:15 a.m., Trahan was in his black Chrysler 300 at the old fairgrounds parking lot on Gulf Street, with three of his young children—ages 3, 2, and 1—in the back seat, when he was attacked.
Despite his injuries, Trahan managed to drive to The Place convenience store, located at 1610 Interstate 10 East.
Upon arrival, he entered the store and informed witnesses that he had been shot near The Regent apartments, situated nearby. He then collapsed and was subsequently transported to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that morning.
Trahan was a devoted father of ten children, with his eldest daughter having turned 13 just three days before his death. His family remembers him as the anchor of their family, known for bringing people together and being the life of any gathering. In the wake of his passing, a GoFundMe campaign was established to support his children and cover funeral expenses, as he did not have life insurance.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Trahan's death. The Beaumont Police Department continues to investigate the case and urges anyone with information to come forward.
