Willie Edwards, a 34-year-old man from Beaumont, Texas, tragically died on May 28, 2022, after being shot multiple times. The incident occurred at the intersection of Steelton Street and Fillmore Street, where Edwards was found in a nearby parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Two suspects, Isaiah Charles Brewer, 22, and Algerreau Marquel McQueen, 17, both residents of Beaumont, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in
connection with Edwards' death. According to a witness, McQueen shot at Edwards until he fell to the ground, and then Brewer also shot at Edwards. Both suspects fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima with paper tags. The vehicle was later found, and both suspects were taken into custody.
The investigation revealed that a disturbance involving multiple people occurred before the shooting. Detectives worked through the night to gather evidence and obtain arrest warrants for Brewer and McQueen. They were both held in the Jefferson County Jail on $927,000 bonds. Brewer's bond was later reduced to $750,000, and he was confined to his home with a GPS device.
