On April 17, 2024, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 800 block of East 12th Street, near the Dallas Zoo. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Datwon Marvel Giddings lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response from Dallas Fire Rescue, Giddings was pronounced dead at the scene.
