On May 4, 2024, at approximately 3:26 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers patrolling near Northgate Boulevard and Colony Creek Drive in North Austin responded to an active disturbance. Upon arrival, they discovered 38-year-old Nicholas Taylor lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services pronounced Taylor deceased at the scene at 3:37 a.m.
Investigations revealed that Taylor had been forcibly removed from his vehicle and shot by an unknown assailant who subsequently fled the area. Despite a thorough search, the suspect was not located, and no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. APD has urged anyone with information to come forward, offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to an arrest.
Nicholas Taylor was born on March 23, 1985, in Austin, Texas, and was raised in Luling. He was known for his big-hearted nature, love for his family, and active involvement in his children's lives. A visitation was held on May 29, 2024, at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart, followed by a graveside service on May 30 at Union Hill Cemetery in Luling.
As of December 27, 2024, the case remains unsolved. APD continues to seek assistance from the public to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for Taylor's death.
