On May 22, 2024, at approximately 6:24 a.m., the Conroe Police Department responded to an emergency call at The Reston Apartments, located at 808 Gladstell Street in Conroe, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Bernard Eric Wilson III lying on the ground beside his vehicle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the upper torso. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.
Following an intensive investigation, authorities arrested three individuals in connection with Wilson's death. Brothers Darrion Deonte Allen, 20, of Conroe, and Darrius Tayshawn Allen, 22, of Montgomery, along with 20-year-old Cassius Jones of Houston, were taken into custody. Each was charged with first-degree felony murder. Additional charges against Darrion Allen included failure to identify as a fugitive, possession of marijuana, a motion to revoke a misdemeanor, and an out-of-county felony bond revocation.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Investigators have not determined whether the incident was an attempted carjacking or if the suspects were caught burglarizing Wilson's vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with pertinent information to contact the Conroe Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
In the wake of this tragedy, family and friends remembered Bernard Wilson III for his warmth and kindness, noting that he touched countless lives and left behind cherished memories. A celebration of his life was held on June 15, 2024, at Eickenhorst Funeral Services in Conroe.
