On July 7, 2024, 33-year-old Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury, a manager at a Sonic Drive-In in San Antonio, Texas, was fatally shot during his shift. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the Sonic located on Babcock Road near Eckhert Road. Shrewsbury confronted a group attempting to pay for their order with counterfeit money.
