Two other individuals were injured: a man with multiple gunshot wounds, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and a woman with a gunshot wound to her arm, expected to recover.

Charles Edward Gunels III was born on September 1, 1991, in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles Edward Gunels Jr. and Freda Marie Burleson Scott. He pursued his education in the San Antonio School System and later attended Goodwill Careers Academy, where he earned his Commercial Driver's License. Charles was known for his versatility and skills, working as a service associate at Green Stone Electric Company, a mechanic at Hooties Auto Sales, and as a truck driver, a profession he was passionate about. He was a jack of all trades, capable of fixing almost anything, and was affectionately regarded as a "super shade tree mechanic." Charles had a love for riding horses, dancing, listening to music, traveling, and bringing laughter to those around him. He took pride in his career, which allowed him to travel to different states, vacation in Las Vegas, and recently enjoy a cruise to Mexico. Charles is survived by his parents, stepmother, sister, brother, grandmothers, four children—Premiere, MyLyah, ZaNiyah, and Stormi—a stepsister, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral services for Charles were held on August 17, 2024, at Christian World Church, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory and celebrate his life. An online memorial has been established in his honor, where loved ones have shared memories and condolences, underscoring the impact he had on those around him.
