On the night of July 31, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Killeen police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of Adams Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Jesse Miles suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers administered immediate life-saving measures before paramedics transported Miles to the Carl R. Darnall Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on August 1.
During the initial investigation, two additional gunshot victims—a 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman—arrived at a local emergency medical facility via private vehicle. The male victim, later identified as Anthony McKoy, was subsequently transferred to the Carl R. Darnall Army Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 1:15 a.m. The female victim was taken to Advent Health Central Texas with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of December 27, 2024, the Killeen Police Department has not announced any arrests or publicly identified any suspects in connection with the deaths of Jesse Miles and Anthony McKoy. Detectives continue to actively investigate the case and have urged anyone with information to contact Bell County Crime Stoppers.
