On the night of July 31, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Killeen police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of Adams Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Jesse Miles suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers administered immediate life-saving measures before paramedics transported Miles to the Carl R. Darnall Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on August 1.
