On August 2, 2024, 34-year-old Vanity Williams, a Black transgender woman, was tragically shot and killed in Houston, Texas. An Air Force veteran and nursing student, Williams was found deceased in the lobby of her residence at the Caroline Apartments in downtown Houston.
