On August 10, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Port Arthur police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Highway 73 and Highway 69 South. Upon arrival, officers discovered 25-year-old Jaylin Marquis Johnson lying outside his vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
