On the evening of August 28, 2024, at approximately 9:10 p.m., 19-year-old Michael Smith was fatally shot at 9551 North Wayside Drive in Houston, Texas. According to a witness present at the scene, Smith was walking through the park when an unknown male approached, threatened him with a firearm, and subsequently shot him. The assailant then fled on foot toward Hamlet Street. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the course of their investigation, Houston police identified two persons of interest captured in surveillance footage near the crime scene. One individual was seen wearing a light-colored hoodie, while the other donned a black hoodie. Authorities have released these images to the public, seeking assistance in identifying and locating the individuals for questioning. As of now, no formal charges have been filed against them.
