Aquante’ Lee Braswell, a 30-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on May 13, 2020, in Houston, Texas. Born on August 17, 1989, in Columbus, Ohio, Aquante’ was known to many as "Q." On the evening of his death, he was transported to Hermann Memorial Southwest Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The circumstances surrounding his death were deeply troubling, as it was the result of a fatal shooting.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m.
at 2800 Post Oak Boulevard. According to the Houston Police Department, surveillance video captured three male suspects involved in a physical altercation with Aquante’ Lee Braswell before the shooting. The suspects, described as two Black males and one Hispanic male, fled the scene on foot westbound on West Alabama Street. Witnesses reported that the altercation began inside a nearby shopping mall and escalated outside, leading to the fatal shooting.
The Houston Police Department released surveillance photos of the suspects and urged anyone with information to come forward. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the suspects remained at large, and the investigation continued. The case drew significant attention, and the community was urged to assist in identifying and apprehending the individuals responsible for Aquante’ Lee Braswell's death.
