Bao Lam, a 61-year-old Asian male, was tragically murdered on January 11, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Bao and his wife, Jenny Lam, also 61, were ambushed and executed in their home located in a gated community. The couple was returning home when they were attacked by three suspects who had been waiting for them. The suspects forced Bao and Jenny into their home, where they were bound, robbed, and ultimately shot to death.
Their bodies were discovered by their son, Rich Lam, who went to check on them after not hearing from them for a few days.
The investigation into the murders led to the arrest of three individuals: Khari Ty Kendrick, 23, Aakiel Ricardo Kendrick, 21, and Erick Alfredo Peralta, 20. The suspects were charged with capital murder. Surveillance footage showed the suspects arriving at the gated community in a Lincoln Navigator, crawling under the gate, and entering the neighborhood. The suspects were seen on video returning to the Lams' home multiple times over the course of a few days, ransacking the house and stealing valuables, including firearms.
Erick Peralta was convicted of capital murder in October 2022 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Khari Ty Kendrick was also sentenced to life in prison without parole in May 2022. Aakiel Kendrick is awaiting trial on capital murder charges. The brutal nature of the crime and the subsequent arrests and convictions have brought some measure of justice to the Lam family, although the loss of Bao and Jenny Lam continues to be deeply felt by their loved ones.
