Alec exited the vehicle and stepped into the front yard. Within moments of stepping out, he was struck by a fatal gunshot fired by the driver of the sedan. Alec, being a 20-year-old Black male, collapsed in the yard and was found by his parents shortly thereafter. His stepfather attempted to comfort him during his final moments, telling him, “You’re okay… I love you,” which were the last words Alec heard.
Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division swiftly launched an investigation. Responding officers treated the case as a targeted shooting. Witnesses described the shooter as an unknown individual who arrived and fled in the same dark-colored sedan. Neighbors recalled spotting a dark gray or charcoal Dodge Charger in the driveway just before hearing the gunshot. Investigators released surveillance stills of both the individual and the dark Dodge Charger suspected to have been involved, urging anyone with potential information to come forward.
