On November 7, 2024, at approximately 4:34 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of Rosewood Avenue in East Austin. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Matthew Escalante suffering from a gunshot wound. Escalante was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on November 8, 2024, at 3:20 p.m.
