Marvin Getrelle "Binky" Henson, a 48-year-old African American man from Austin, Texas, tragically lost his life on May 15, 2021. He was shot and killed in East Austin after leaving a friend's house. According to reports, Henson was walking on Little Hill Circle when he was approached by unknown suspects. A verbal altercation ensued, which escalated into gunfire, resulting in Henson's death.
The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound, ruling it a homicide.
Following the incident, the Austin Police Department launched an investigation to identify the suspects involved. On September 7, 2021, three men—Laderious Deshawn Nicholson, 28; Cory Lynn Burdett, 23; and Bobby Orlando McVade, 33—were arrested and charged with murder in connection to Henson's death. The investigation revealed that the suspects had been involved in a gambling dispute with Henson earlier that night, and they allegedly attempted to rob him. The suspects were booked into the Travis County Jail, and their bonds were set at $1 million each.
The case remains open, and detectives continue to seek additional information from the public to aid in their investigation. The community has been urged to come forward with any relevant details to help bring justice for Marvin Getrelle "Binky" Henson.
