On April 12, 2023, 34-year-old Claudio Joel Martinez, a father of four, was fatally shot while driving his Toyota Tacoma on westbound Interstate 580 near Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. Following the shooting, his vehicle collided with another car on an off-ramp and crashed into a pole at Lake Park and Lakeshore Avenue, where Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Martinez was remembered by his family as a dedicated and selfless individual who worked diligently to support his loved ones. His daughter, Haley Marquez, 13, described him as someone who "always did anything for everyone" and "never held a grudge against anyone." His wife, Ada Marquez, now faces the challenge of raising their four children, including a 1-year-old, without him.
