On April 30, 2023, at approximately 3 a.m., Lompoc Police responded to a reported domestic violence incident in the 1600 block of West Pine Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds: 59-year-old Cassandra Butler, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and 29-year-old Tyree Eugene Sims-McPherson, who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
