On June 9, 2023, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Eddie James, a 43-year-old resident of Victorville, California, was fatally shot in the 14200 block of Valley Center Drive. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, authorities identified 41-year-old Victorville resident Ricky Prudholme Jr. as the suspect in the shooting. On July 10, 2023, Prudholme was arrested and charged with murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and participating in a criminal street gang. He is currently held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center and was scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2023.
Eddie James had previous encounters with law enforcement. In May 2022, he was arrested for trespassing on closed lands and possession of drug paraphernalia. Earlier, in April 2019, he faced charges for making threats of violence. Despite these incidents, his death was a tragic event that impacted the Victorville community.
The arrest of Prudholme, an alleged gang member, underscores the ongoing challenges posed by gang-related activities in the area. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding James's death and urges anyone with additional information to come forward.
