On July 14, 2023, 24-year-old Antioch resident Trevon Richardson was fatally shot in Pittsburg, California. The incident occurred on the 2100 block of Crestview Lane, where multiple shots were fired into a moving vehicle. Richardson, a passenger in the car, and the 21-year-old driver, also from Antioch, both sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Seeking immediate assistance, they drove to the parking lot of the Pittsburg Police Department.
Despite prompt medical attention, Richardson succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the driver was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.
In the weeks following the shooting, investigators identified the Midtown street gang, a violent criminal organization based in East Contra Costa County, as being responsible for Richardson's murder. On September 11, 2023, a coordinated operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies executed numerous search and arrest warrants across several cities, including Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley, and Pleasant Hill. This effort led to the arrest of 13 individuals connected to the homicide and other crimes associated with the gang. Among those arrested, seven adults and two juveniles were charged with Richardson's murder and are currently awaiting court proceedings.
Despite these arrests, one suspect remains at large. Nineteen-year-old Pittsburg resident Amen Allen is still wanted in connection with the homicide. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous and have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Detective Gutierrez at 925-252-4095 or the Pittsburg Police Department's Tip Line at 925-252-4040.
The collaborative efforts of the Pittsburg Police Department, Brentwood Police Department, Central County Tactical Team, Richmond Police Department, San Pablo Police Department, Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigations – Safe Streets, and the U.S. Marshals Office were instrumental in the arrests made. The community's cooperation and patience during the operation were also acknowledged and appreciated by law enforcement agencies.
