On September 4, 2023, 18-year-old Ashley Guzman and her partner, 21-year-old Carlos Loera, were fatally shot while seated in their parked vehicle in the 1000 block of West 253rd Street in Harbor City, California. Their one-year-old son was in a child safety seat in the backseat at the time of the attack. A suspect approached the vehicle on foot and fired multiple rounds into the car before fleeing the scene.
