On March 30, 2024, in Gasquet, California, 40-year-old Sean Prunty was fatally shot in the chest during a dispute at his residence on the 100 block of Toad Road. The Del Norte County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident around 11 p.m. after a third resident reported the shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found Prunty deceased at the scene.
Authorities arrested 45-year-old Jeremiah Kirsch, Prunty's roommate, at the scene without incident. Kirsch was booked into the Del Norte County
