On July 18, 2024, at approximately 3:33 p.m., Long Beach police officers responded to a shooting at the Extended Stay America hotel located at 4105 E. Willow Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Jai’Quan Henry Granberry, a resident of Long Beach, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to a local hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department, Granberry succumbed to his injuries.
