Robert Lee Hollie, Jr., a 33-year-old resident of Long Beach, California, tragically lost his life on December 14, 2014, in a drive-by shooting. Hollie was riding his bicycle near East Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue, returning from his grandmother’s house, when he was approached by two African-American men in a dark-colored vehicle. One of the occupants opened fire, striking Hollie in the torso.
Despite being transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, Hollie succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
The incident has been under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department, with detectives Hugo Cortes and Oscar Valenzuela leading the case.
