Kacy Lloyd, a 48-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was tragically shot and killed on August 21, 2022, in Long Beach, California. The incident occurred just before midnight in the 6700 block of Harbor Avenue. Lloyd was standing next to his parked vehicle when he was fatally shot. Responding officers found him with a gunshot wound to his upper body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Lloyd's death led to the arrest of three suspects.
On November 17, 2022, detectives from the Special Investigations Division arrested Daven Trotter, a 27-year-old resident of Los Angeles, and Geneece Shallowhorn, a 26-year-old resident of Long Beach. Trotter was charged with one count of murder and held on $2,000,000 bail, while Shallowhorn was charged with accessory to murder and held on $1,000,000 bail. The investigation continued, and on January 19, 2023, detectives arrested a third suspect, Lee Edward Mooring Jr., a 37-year-old resident of Long Beach. Mooring was also charged with one count of murder and held on $2,000,000 bail.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The case has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. The Long Beach Police Department has urged anyone with information about the case to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community assistance in solving such crimes.
