On August 11, 2024, at approximately 3:20 a.m., 53-year-old Craig Christy was fatally shot near the intersection of 89th Street and Broadway in South Los Angeles. Upon arrival, Los Angeles Police Department officers found Christy inside his vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including a fatal shot to the face. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later confirmed his identity and determined the manner of death to be homicide, caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
At the time of the shooting, a street takeover was occurring in the vicinity. However, authorities have not confirmed any direct connection between the illegal gathering and Christy's death. Investigators have not disclosed whether Christy and the shooter were acquainted or if the incident was random.
As of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
