On April 20, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Corpus Christi Police Officer Kyle Hicks, aged 32, responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Summer House Apartments on Burnham Drive. Upon arrival, Officer Hicks and his partner heard a male and female arguing inside the apartment. When a male subject, later identified as 26-year-old Colten Foster, answered the door, a struggle ensued during which Foster shot Officer Hicks. In response, Hicks' partner returned fire, fatally wounding Foster.
