On September 22, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., 26-year-old Kevin Roderic Waterman was fatally shot near Main Avenue and Kelton Way in North Sacramento. The incident occurred during a sideshow event, an illegal gathering known for dangerous car stunts and large crowds. Another man was also injured in the shooting; both victims transported themselves to a nearby hospital, where Waterman succumbed to his injuries.
