On September 29, 2024, professional boxer Mylik Birdsong, aged 31, was fatally shot in Los Angeles. Known in the boxing community as "King Mylik," Birdsong held a 15-1-1 record and was the reigning World Boxing Foundation International Welterweight champion. The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. near Watts, Los Angeles, while Birdsong was standing outside a vehicle with his girlfriend. A dark-colored SUV approached, and multiple men inside opened fire.
