On October 11, 2023, at approximately 7:40 a.m., 39-year-old Juan Portillo was fatally shot in an alley near the 2000 block of West Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles.
Responding officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) found Portillo unresponsive at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
A male suspect was arrested in the vicinity shortly after the incident; however, authorities have not publicly disclosed his identity or the potential motive behind the
shooting.
