On July 27, 1989, 81-year-old white female Ruby P. Swisher died while residing at Bowman's Nursing Home in Ormond Beach, Florida. Initially, her death was considered to be from natural causes. However, subsequent investigations revealed that she was one of several elderly patients murdered by Jeffrey Lynn Feltner, a 26-year-old former nurse's aide.
