On the evening of October 22, 2024, Kendell Williams, a 36-year-old man experiencing homelessness, was fatally shot in Long Beach, California. At approximately 7:10 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Alamitos Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Williams with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department personnel.
Following an investigation, Long Beach Police Department detectives identified 55-year-old Hemet resident, Al Gene Fisher, as a suspect in Williams' death. On November 15, 2024, Fisher was arrested in Long Beach and found in possession of a firearm. He was subsequently booked on suspicion of murder and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, with bail set at $2 million.
Authorities believe that Williams and Fisher were acquaintances involved in a dispute leading up to the shooting. The exact motive remains under investigation. Detectives are urging anyone with additional information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community assistance in resolving the case.
